Aston Villa FC plans to build museum, superstore and hotel after demolishing some of site

News

Aston Villa Football Club is looking to demolish some of its current site, with future plans to build a museum, superstore and hotel.

AVFC has submitted plans to Birmingham City Council, which are available to the public, stating that it plans to demolish the ticket office and shop.

According to the documents, the current ticket office and Villa Village merchandise shop will be moved into different units on the site.

The club’s goal is to regenerate the whole park “in the near future” with a superstore, museum and potential hotel – subject to a full planning application.

The documents state that Aston Villa wants to demolish the current buildings because they are run down and not aesthetically pleasing, and are “not serving a great purpose”.

It is noted in the documents that it is a “very important application for AVFC”. Demolition is scheduled to begin on July 22, with completion set for August 30.

Aston Villa’s regeneration plans come after the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium opened in London, sporting a fully retractable pitch, bars and restaurants, premium experiences, and an interactive museum.

Football clubs adding attractions and technology

The next phase of the development will include an extreme sports attraction with the UK’s tallest climbing wall, and a 180-bedroom hotel.

In more football club news, Manchester City recently revealed a high-tech stadium tour – the most immersive tour experience in football, guiding visitors through the Manchester City Football Club’s history and heritage.
