Cedar Fair has announced a raft of new upgrades for 2018 including four ‘ground-breaking’ coasters at Cedar Point, Knott’s Berry Farm, California’s Great America and Kings Dominion.
Cedar Point, the company’s flagship park in Ohio, will be home to Steel Vengeance, the world’s first hyper-hybrid roller coaster. At over 200ft tall, the ride combines a steel running track with a massive wooden structure. This promises to deliver a really smooth ride as well a host of heart-stopping manoeuvres previously unheard of on a wooden coaster.
Steel Vengeance aims to shatter 15 world records
Steel Vengeance is also aiming to shatter 15 roller coaster and amusement park world records, including those for tallest, fastest, steepest and inversion count for a hybrid roller coaster.
Knott’s Berry Farm will unveil the West Coast’s first dive coaster. With beach-style theming, the HangTime coaster will suspend riders 15 stories over a disappearing track, provide floating sensations through negative g-stall loops. Another key feature is the colourful lighting scheme that ‘chases’ the coaster train around the tracks.
California’s Great America in Santa Clara is warming up for first-of-its-kind single rail roller coaster, RailBlazer. Thrill-seekers can expect a 90-degree drop, three inversions, and intense dynamic rotations made possible by the single-rail design and inline seating. RailBlazer marks the first stage in a multi-year transformation of the park into a world-class family entertainment destination.
Twisted Timbers – 20 high-speed gravity-defying moments
Finally, Virginia’s Kings Dominion is revving up for the arrival of Twisted Timbers, boasting a 109-foot barrel-roll drop, three inversions and overbanked turns, and 20 gravity-defying airtime moments at speeds of over 50 miles an hour.

“Along with our amazing team, these investments are focused on making our parks THE place to be for FUN by providing memorable experiences and unmatched value for our guests of all ages.”
Delirious is set to get pulses racing
Canada’s Wonderland in Toronto will be expanding its attractions with the introduction of the Lumberjack pendulum thrill ride that loops guests 75 feet high, the Flying Canoes interactive family ride, and an upgraded and expanded children’s pool and splash pad in the Splash Works water park.
New thrill ride, Delirious, is set to get pulses racing at Minnesota’s Valleyfair, while visitors to Worlds of Fun in Missouri can look forward to new family ride, the Nordic Chaser.
Cedar Fair has also announced that six parks will stay open during November and December next year for Winterfest. The seasonal offering features specially themed areas, falling snow and ice skating.
The company is also upgrading its dining across all its parks with new or improved facilities at California’s Great America, Carowinds, Dorney Park, Kings Island, and Michigan’s Adventure.
