Cedar Fair will open a 203-room Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotel at its Canada’s Wonderland theme park in Ontario.
The company has signed a pair of hotel services agreements with a Hyatt affiliate for a dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotel. The dual-branded hotel will have 203 rooms. These will include both spacious guestrooms and apartment-style suites.
Construction will begin in the first half of 2019, and is set to open in late 2020.
Richard Zimmerman, Cedar Fair president and CEO, said: “The new dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotel will continue Cedar Fair’s significant investment in Canada’s Wonderland, one of the portfolio’s largest and most successful parks.
“We expect strong attendance growth there, driven by the introduction of a new record-breaking roller coaster, Yukon Striker, and addition of an immersive holiday event, WinterFest, both launching in 2019.
“This development will mark the next evolution in the park’s diverse offerings, providing park guests, business travelers and tourists with convenient accommodations in a growing area. The Hyatt Place and Hyatt House are respected brands worldwide and we look forward to working with the Hyatt team to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction.”
The hotel will feature an indoor pool, 24-hour fitness center, coffee and cocktails bar, casual dining options, business center, flexible meeting and event spaces, and an outdoor sun deck. It aims to appeal to both park guests as well as business travellers.
The hotel will be built on a 16-acre parcel of the park’s land adjacent to Ontario Highway 400. Earlier this month, the company announced their long term strategy for growth, which included development on adjacent land.
There is 1,400 acres of undeveloped land adjacent to Cedar Fair parks, according to the report. The company will develop hotels and cabins in order to expand accommodation services for guests.
Cedar Fair owns and operates 12 amusement parks, two outdoor water parks, one indoor water park, and five hotels in the US and Canada. Its properties include Cedar Point in Ohio, California’s Great America, Carowinds and Knott’s Berry Farm.
