Chessington World of Adventures Resort has announced that ‘Rainforest Land’ will open in 2020. The new area will include three new rides and is inspired by the rainforest.
Rainforest Land is a family-friendly zone featuring the rainforests of the world, as well as Jungle Rangers, River Rafts and Treetop Hoppers rides.
Jungle Rangers invites guests to take the wheel, while River Rafts features log flumes and Treetop Hoppers is set in the treetop canopy.
The new land joins 10 other lands at Chessington and is inspired by the attraction’s support of international conservation charity World Land Trust (WLT).
WLT protects the world’s most biologically important and threatened habitats. Chessington’s Conservation Fund has supported WLT for eight years, saving an area of threatened rainforest in Ecuador.
With the debut of Rainforest Land, Chessington hopes to educate guests about the importance of conserving the world’s rainforests.
Patchwork elephant Elmer coming to Chessington
In addition to Rainforest Land, patchwork elephant Elmer is heading to Chessington in 2020 for the ‘Elmer’s Flying Jumbos’ ride.
Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, created by David McKee and published by Andersen Press, inspired the flying carousel featuring colourful elephants.
In more Merlin news, Alton Towers Resort recently announced a groundbreaking new 4D ride experience, Gangsta Granny: The Ride, as part of The World of David Walliams.
The World of David Walliams will include more rides and attractions, such as Raj’s Shop, the Royal Carousel, and Raj’s Bouncy Bottom Burp.
Meanwhile, Merlin announced a new IP partnership with Silvergate Media to take its animated TV show Octonauts to Changfeng Ocean World in Shanghai, part of Merlin’s chain of SEA LIFE Aquariums.
