Christie, the global visual and audio technology company, has announced that its Christie Eclipse product has been named the recipient of a Thea Award for ‘Outstanding Achievement – Technical Innovation’ at IAAPA Expo 2019 in Orlando.

The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) Thea Award 2020 recipients were announced during a press conference at IAAPA Expo 2019. The Thea Awards recognise and celebrate achievement and excellence in the themed entertainment industry globally.

The TEA Awards Committee said Christie Eclipse, Pro-AV’s first true HDR 4K RGB pure laser projector, “is a true step into the future of projection, particularly for our themed entertainment industry”.

It added: “This projector has been developed by a Christie R&D group that has for many years focused on projection advancement designed to meet the specific needs of our themed entertainment industry.

“It is appropriate that this group be celebrated for their specific contribution and continuing interest to support our industry with uniquely relevant technologies.”

Christie Eclipse can display a contrast ratio up to 20,000,000:1, which means that the finest details in content are visible, even in extreme black and white ranges.

The projector is capable of frame rates up to 120Hz, and delivers smooth, dynamic content without any motion blur. This is essential when immersing guests in experiences such as dark rides and flying theatres.

“We’re deeply honored to have Christie Eclipse named to receive the prestigious TEA Thea Award and for TEA to recognize not only the product but also Christie’s innovation and dedication to the global attractions industry,” said Bryan Boehme, executive director of global sales and business development, entertainment at Christie.

Christie will formally accept its award at the 26th Annual Thea Awards Gala on April 18, 2020 at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.

“We designed Christie Eclipse to enable attraction designers, planetariums and giant screen theaters to immerse guests in content in a way that hasn’t previously been possible,” said Larry Paul, executive director, technology and custom solutions at Christie.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized with this award.”

Christie is exhibiting its latest LED and projection technologies at the IAAPA Expo 2019.
