Hundreds of thousands of people descended on the Dutch city of Eindhoven recently for the GLOW international light art festival. A highlight of eight-day event was a video mapping installation on the Catharinakerk, made possible with projectors from Christie.

The Confluence project on the face of the 19th Century neo-gothic Roman Catholic church in the centre of Eindhoven was one of 30 installations spread over a 5km radius.

Created by Ocubo, the kinetic art was inspired by the confluence of rivers and streams in the Netherlands. Virtual dancers guided audiences through the film, with flourishes of colour emphasising the church’s stunning architecture in an array of eye-catching geometric combinations.

GLOW-Eindhoven-Confluence-Ocubo-Criativo_BvOF1Twelve of the latest Christie D20WU-HS projectors were provided for Confluence by local partner Sahara Benelux. These are the lightest and brightest 1DLP laser phosphor projectors available. They can operate at full brightness on a single 15A, 110V circuit.

Sahara Benelux also provided 10 Christie UHD 551-L LCD panels for Glowie, an interactive art installation elsewhere in the city combining chatbot technology, voice commands and light art.

“It was great to see the creativity on show at GLOW,” says Miles Donovan of Christie’s EMEA office. “We were delighted that Sahara Benelux chose to invest in our HS Series for this event. These projectors are an excellent choice for a wide range of applications, delivering high brightness and vibrant colours in a lightweight and compact form factor. It’s our pleasure to play a part in helping to enable the world’s best shared experiences.”

Each year, GLOW attracts international artistic talent in the field of light art and technology to Eindhoven. The event took place for the 13th time from November 10 to 17.
