Christie Mirage SST projector

Christie, a leader in creating and delivering the world’s best visual and audio experiences, showcases latest theme park technology at IAAPA 2018.

Christie is expanding its RGB laser projection lineup with the launch of Mirage SST. The new RGB laser solution features ultra-compact, fiber-coupled projection head and features Christie TruLife™ electronics.

Also at IAAPA are Christie’s new Automated Content Generation solution using AI technology, and a Multiple Point-of-View (MPOV) projection system.

Mirage SST RGB laser projection solution

The Mirage SST has been designed for complex, demanding applications including theme park attractions, dome theaters and planetariums.

With an ultra-compact, fiber-coupled projection head the projector weighs just 110 pounds (50 kilograms and is ideal for installations with space constraints. The remote light source allows the chilling equipment to be placed away from the projector head, saving space and reducing noise from the cooling system for the audience.

Featuring TruLife electronics, the Mirage SST delivers 4K resolution at 120fps, or, with an optional license, 480fps at 2K resolution. High frame rates remove blurring and strobing effects in fast-moving images, critical to creating an immersive experience for audiences. The Mirage SST further creates an ultra-realistic experience by achieving greater than 90 percent of the Rec. 2020 colour space and 5000:1 on/off contrast with ultra-high contrast lenses. With rich, highly saturated colours, a more natural colour reproduction is also possible.

“The Mirage SST joins the recently released D4K40-RGB in Christie’s lineup of RGB laser projectors,” says Mike Garrido, senior product manager, Christie. “The Mirage SST brings flexibility to system design and incredible image fidelity, and, as a result, we believe the creation of the next generation of spectacular, immersive visual experiences is now possible.”

The Christie Mirage SST can be installed in single or multi-projector configurations and is compatible with Christie Mystique Install, which simplifies the design, installation and maintenance of multi-projector arrays, and Christie Guardian, which offers automated, invisible, real-time blended image correction even when content is playing.

Bryan Boehme, executive director, sales, Christie, says, “As the Official Projection Systems Provider for Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood, we understand projection and display solutions for the attractions industry. Christie’s history of innovation continues with the expansion of our lineup of RGB laser projectors. Coupled with Christie’s suite of solutions, including LED tiles, Pandoras Box, Terra, Spyder and Mystique, we can help our partners create powerfully immersive experiences for the most demanding applications.”

Automated Content Generation

Christie will also be exhibiting Automated Content Generation. Using AI technology, this new solution enables the creation of content without the need for highly specialised artistic and production software skills.

Creative professionals and AV integrators are increasingly called on to create unique content for the latest AV applications like projection mapping and corporate events.

Christie’s solution uses reference style templates to make creating custom content quicker and easier.

MPOV projection

Christie will be showcasing a technology demonstration of a Multiple Point-of-View (MPOV) projection system.

Powered by its award-winning Christie Boxer projectors coupled with 3D glasses, MPOV allows all four players in a video game to have a unique experience while viewing the same screen.

The technology can also be used for other applications including theme park dark rides, design review and language subtitles.
