Now in its fifth edition, the Theme Park Design Competition run by students at Cornell University is back with $6,500 in cash prizes awaiting the winning teams.
To take part, teams must create a vision for an innovative attraction. The competition will challenge students with four distinct challenges:
- Concept Design, presented by JRA
- Master Planning, presented by Forrec
- Technical Analysis, presented by Zamperla
- Development, presented by WhiteWater
Submissions will be evaluated for creativity, feasibility, and attention to detail by a panel of industry experts. Blooloop is the official media partner of the Theme Park Design Competition.
The winner of last year’s competition was a concept for a water ride called Cryptid Creek – as pictured above. University of Florida students Will Meldrum-Thush, Michael Breen, Kristofer Robinson and Christopher Berry were behind the winning project. They were awarded a $4,000 prize.
The competition is organised by The Cornell Theme Park Entertainment Group, an independent student-run organisation at the USA’s renowned Cornell University. The group is dedicated to the study of themed design and location-based entertainment and the professional development of its student members.
Get your team together
Competing teams may be comprised of two to four participants currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate programme at an accredited college or university. They do not, however, all have to be from the same college or university. Interdisciplinary teams are recommended.
Registration for the Theme Park Design Competition 2019 is open until Sunday, March 24. Register your team now.
