Located on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Warner Bros Movie World (WBMW) is to open a major new rollercoaster as part of an ongoing DC Super-Villains expansion.

DC Rivals HyperCoaster is billed as a game-changer for Australian theme parks. The ride will be the longest, fastest and highest hyper coaster (200ft+) in the Southern Hemisphere. Themed around the popular DC Universe franchise, the attraction opens this coming October, standing 61.6m (202ft) tall.

“Reaching speeds of up to 115km/h, guests will be taken on an exhilarating journey as they experience 4.3G forces and a series of twists and turns along the 1.4km track, almost double the length of any other ride on the Gold Coast,” notes Clark Kirby, CEO at WMBW operator Village Roadshow Theme Parks.

Manufactured by Mack Rides, DC Rivals HyperCoaster will also feature a custom train design giving selected riders the opportunity to ride backwards. Signature ride elements include a non-inverted loop.

Super-Villains Unleashed launched at WBMW in September 2016 with the opening of Doomsday Destroyer, a looping pendulum ride by Intamin. The themed zone was designed by LA-based Pure Imagination Studios, which worked previously on the park’s Justice League dark ride, pre-dating similar attractions at Six Flags. The Australian park also features attractions themed around intellectual properties from DC including Green Lantern and the Batman film Arkham Asylum.
