DHX Brands licenses Twirlywoos to Millennium Entertainment (MEI) for worldwide theatrical tour

DHX Brands has licensed its hit pre-school IP, Twirlywoos, to Millennium Entertainment International (MEI) for a worldwide theatrical tour.

The news follows the company’s recent deal with MEI for non-ticketed event rights for Twirlywoos, Teletubbies and In the Night Garden for South East Asia and Middle East.

The tour is a first for the Twirlywoos brand and will feature puppetry and music to create a ‘highly entertaining and engaging interactive experience’.

Although specific tour dates have yet to be announced, performances will target the brand’s key markets including the UK and Eire, Spain, the Middle East and Australia.

“We’re thrilled to be further growing the Twirlywoos brand through our relationship with MEI, whose deep creative expertise with live shows for children is a perfect fit for this property,” commented Danielle Tanton, Live Events and Attractions Manager, DHX Brands.

“We look forward to sharing a live show brimming with fun, learning and surprises for all Twirlywoos fans.”

A new way to engage preschoolers

The live shows, created around educational and developmental themes, will feature the popular Twirlywoos characters. In line with the brand ethos, the shows are being designed to ‘encourage preschoolers to explore, discover and gain confidence in their own perceptions of the world’.

“We’re very excited to have been chosen to create a live experience with the ever-curious Twirlywoos,” confirmed Nick Larkin, Creative Producer at MEI. “Silly, fun and always full of surprises, Twirlywoos Live will enable us to engage with and entertain preschoolers.

“Watching little ones with so much excitement and wonder on their faces is part of the magic of working in children’s theatre, and we can’t wait to get started.”
