Drayton Manor Theme Park, Staffordshire, UK, is investing £2.5 million in a 40% expansion of Thomas Land, opening Easter 2015.
The expansion will include three new rides from Zamperla:
- Flynn’s Fire Rescue complete with on-board fire hoses for riders
- Captain’s Sea Adventure with six rotating lifeboats fitted with cannons to squirt water
- Toby’s Tram Express
A focal point of Thomas Land will be the new two-storey Sodor Airport Terminal, including a top level VIP viewing area, five themed rooms for private hire for events, a café and a new location for Jeremy Jet’s Flying Academy.
There will also be a fountain of the Fat Controller and three Victorian fairground games as well as a bandstand hosting live performances.
Commenting on the announcement, Colin Bryan, CEO of Drayton Manor Theme Park, said, “2015 marks the 65th anniversary of Drayton Manor and throughout our long history we’ve always prided ourselves on offering a fun day out for the whole family.
“That was the reasoning behind the launch of Thomas Land in 2008. Since then the area has gone from strength to strength and has provided an immersive experience for fans both young and old. We are delighted to be extending it this year with all these fantastic new rides and facilities for our visitors to enjoy.”
