Europa-Park has launched a brand new, digital VR experience for smartphones so viewers can enjoy the Alpenexpress and Pegasus coasters at home.
The ‘Coastiality’ app, developed by MackMedia, offers four 360° worlds featuring Europa-Park characters including Ed Euromaus and the Happy Family.
The park, which opened the world’s first VR coaster, Alpenexpress, in 2015, is now offering guests the chance to take a piece of the action home.
The intuitive controls of ‘Coastiality’ deliver two breath-taking animations shown on both the Alpenexpress and Pegasus rollercoaster rides. Two rides are also available to watch as 360° videos.
MackMedia plans to provide additional 360° videos in future via app updates The app can be used with or without VR glasses (e.g. Google Cardboard) and is available for free download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Apps for Samsung GearVR and Oculus Rift will be available shortly.
The official ‘Coastiality’ Cardboard is launching in mid-July and will be available for purchase in all Europa-Park shops, as well as online for €9.90.
The launch coincides with the announcement that MackMedia’s Michael Mack, managing partner of Europa-Park, has been named ‘Top Next-Generation Entrepreneur’ at the CampdenFB Awards. Europa-Park also scooped ‘Top Family Business’.
