Video gaming experience company HYPD is taking HYPD Arena to intu Lakeside. The new location will have esports, virtual reality esports and experiences, and a retro arcade.
HYPD is heading to Lakeside in Essex following a successful stint at Thorpe Park. The company’s flagship HYPD Arena will be at intu Lakeside from July 20 to August 31.
HYPD Arena activities are as follows: HYPD Legends esports tournament, which includes virtual reality (VR) esports, UNIVRSE Virtual Reality, Next-Gen Zone, Retro Arcade, and Twitch Livestream Viewing Centre.
The attraction, located on Level 2 at intu Lakside, will offer various HYPD Legends esports tournaments, including FIFA 19, Apex Legends, and Project Cars 2 VR.

UNIVRSE Virtual Reality immerses players in the game using the latest technology. Games previously featured include Beat Saber, Richie’s Plank Experience, Arcade LA Deadzone, and Project Cars 2.
Chris Haydon, COO of HYPD, said (via Esports Insider) HYPD features “a dynamic range of gameplay options for customers to enjoy”, adding: “I’d very much like to thank intu Lakeside for their continued support of this initiative. Together we can deliver a truly unforgettable attraction.”
