Immotion Group, the virtual reality entertainment specialist, has announced three new installs in its fast-growing aquarium sector.

Immotion Group is pleased to be working on three new projects at popular aquariums on both sides of the world. These installations are taking place at Dubai Aquarium, San Antonio Aquarium and Austin Aquarium. All will feature the ‘Ocean Explorer’ series of experiences. Visitors can also enjoy the latest experience from Immotion; ‘Shark Dive’. This live-action VR attraction gives users the experience of seeing Tiger and Hammerhead Sharks up close.

VR in aquariums

Dubai Aquarium is located in the Dubai Mall, which is the world’s biggest shopping mall and hosts over 80 million visitors every year. Immotion will be installing four headsets here, just outside the aquarium entrance. Dubai Aquarium is one of the largest suspended aquariums in the world and is home to more than 140 species. This includes the biggest collection of Sand Tiger Sharks in the world.

Immotion’s other two aquarium projects are both in Texas. The company is installing four headsets at San Antonio Aquarium, and a further four at Austin Aquarium. Immotion is seeing a positive performance from the aquarium sector, which is currently trading ahead of its overall partner revenues. In turn, these are trading ahead of the company’s overall headsets revenues.

Meeting demand

Martin Higginson, Immotion Group CEO, says: “Demand from the aquarium market is really starting to gain traction. We now have over 50 active leads from this sector which gives us real confidence in hitting our EBITDA breakeven figures in Q1 2020. Signing up Dubai Aquarium is another major milestone in the Company’s growth story. Not only is this one of the largest aquariums, it is located in the largest shopping mall in the World with over 80 million visitors a year.”

Immotion also recently announced that it had installed new VR experiences at the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium in Florida, as well as the O2 Arena in London.
