LYP Group building $55m Angkor Water Park in Cambodia

LYP Group is building a water park in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The development, known as Angkor Water Park, will cost an estimated $55 million.

The Council for the Development of Cambodia has granted LYP Group permission to build the attraction, located in Chroy Changvar District.

According to a press release, the six-hectare water park will be situated near LYP Group’s Safari World Zoo, which opened in March 2018.

Polin has supplied speed slides and playstructure  for the project: Windigo, Kamikaze, Looping Rocket and Special Themed Water Play Structure S1.

WhiteWater has supplied other slides and attractions: a wave pool, a four-person abyss, a four-person constrictor, a flowrider and flowrider double, a lazy river, a boomerango for one to two people, and a super bowl for one to two people

Angkor Water Park will be Phnom Penh’s first international-standard water park

LYP Group, owned by Ly Yong Phat, said the attraction will be bigger than the Cartoon Network Waterpark in Pattaya, Thailand.

Seng Nhok, LYP Group Director, said it will be Phnom Penh’s first international-standard water park and entertainment hub. He added that the company will begin construction by the end of November.

The park is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.

Elsewhere, Cedar Fair is set to acquire two iconic water parks and one resort in Texas – Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort New Braunfels and Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston – for $261 million.

Europa Park recently released new details of the €180 million highly themed water park Rulantica, featuring 25 water attractions including 17 water slides.
