Ocean Park has announced the new ‘Wild Twister’ ride is debuting in time for Christmas. The theme park in Hong Kong has also unveiled its festive celebrations for 2019, as well as a new night-time show for 2020.

The waterspout-inspired ride Wild Twister will challenge daredevils in its swinging and spinning arms at an extreme acceleration, with a view of the South China Sea.

Arriving at Ocean Park on December 20, the ride experience starts with a simulated tornado installation at the waiting zone.

There will also be a video featuring Leung Wing-mo, former assistant director of the Hong Kong Observatory, who will share fun facts about waterspouts.

Wild Twister will include AR mobile app

Visitors can also download the ‘Wild Twister AR’ mobile app, which boasts games and selfie effects for photo opportunities, as well as an immersive ride experience.

Meanwhile, ‘Ocean Park Christmas Sensation’ will run from December 7, 2019 to January 1, 2020. This year, installations include the ‘Crystalline Christmas Tree presented by Sino Group’ and ‘Shimmering Christmas Forest’.

Santa Claus and his elves will also make special appearances at ‘Santa’s Christmas Cottage’, while Whiskers Harbour will boast interactive games in ‘Whiskers & Friends Conservation Adventure’.

Other attractions include interactive games ‘Ocean Defenders’ and ‘Save the Penguins’, with guests also learning about conservation.

On January 10, 2020, Ocean Park will launch its latest night-time entertainment experience ‘Gala of Lights’, taking place every night.

Guests will go on an adventure in an oceanic wonderland, with new multimedia shows, interactive experiences, dining options and souvenirs.

“With one-stop offerings from entertainment, dining to shopping, Gala of Lights will offer guests every reason to stay late into the evening,” said Rosalind Siu, executive director, sales, marketing and public affairs at Ocean Park.

“It is also a milestone of the Park’s transformation into a resort destination with diversified entertainment being available.”

The immersive ‘Soul of the Ocean’ show, created by Moment Factory, will feature ANIMO, an ancient spirit in Ocean Park’s Aqua City Lagoon, as well as the Lagoon Keepers.

ANIMO and the Lagoon Keepers will dance with water and play with light in a 12-minute spectacular, featuring original music, projection mapping, and special effects such as flaming jets, lasers, mist and dancing water fountains.

The grand finale, ‘Visions of Hong Kong’, is a multimedia fountain show in which guests will enjoy impressionist landscapes featuring Hong Kong’s natural beauty, architecture and culture.

Earlier this year, Ocean Park launched the Hong Kong Marine Life Stranding and Education Centre, a marine research, training and education facility.
