Visitors at Denmark’s Universe Science Park are exhilarated by the world-first fully immersive paragliding attraction, ParadropVR.
The attraction, installed in spring 2018, simulates flying a paraglider. Riders are suspended in a paragliding harness, which physically moves up and down, incorporating sudden drops and smooth deceleration to create a realistic feeling of gliding in the sky.
Guests are in control as they steer their paraglider through virtual mountainous landscape to score points. The game also encourages repeat plays and guests can share their high score on an integrated mobile app.
“The reaction to the attraction has been fantastic. Our guests love it,” said Jonas Luttermann, Chief Operating Officer at Universe Science Park.
“We chose this attraction with its fantastic mixture of the virtual reality components, and then the physical part where you get the motion, the movement up and down. This way to introduce virtual reality even further to our park, that’s a perfect fit for us,” added Luttermann.
After the adrenaline-fuelled experience, one guest says, “You feel like you are really there, you see the feet and the arms, they’re there, it’s crazy.”
Another guest was able to conquer a fear: “It felt quite surreal because I’m afraid of heights. Do it, it’s a great experience!”
ParadropVR was developed by adventure leisure specialists Frontgrid in partnership with Simworx.
The company recently opened up a UK location at Brighton Pier with Immersivity Ltd., and they also have two more UK locations set to launch October 2018. The product has also been nominated for ‘Out of Home VR Entertainment of the Year’ in the VR Awards 2018.

The ParadropVR team will be at the Euro Attractions Show in Amsterdam to showcase the product to the market.
