Paultons Park has unveiled its latest expansion, Tornado Springs, a multi-million-pound themed world opening in May 2020. The attraction will feature new rides based on a 1950s town in the US.

Tornado Springs is themed to an American Midwest desert resort town in the 1950s, and will feature more than eight new attractions and rides.

James Mancey, Operations Director of Paultons Park, said: “We are extremely excited to bring Tornado Springs to the public next May.

“The new themed world represents the single largest and most ambitious investment in the future of Paultons Park since we opened in 1983. The Tornado Springs concept is unique to Paultons Park and will significantly extend our capacity to entertain and delight children of all ages.”

The four-acre land will feature the Storm Chaser roller coaster, a free-spinning ride with heights of 20 metres – the only coaster of its kind in the UK.

It will also boast the thrilling Cyclonator, a Gyro Swing spinning pendulum ride, based on a wind-powered invention by the characters of Tornado Springs for scything crops.

Also coming to Tornado Springs is Al’s Auto Academy, a garage-themed driving school ride with electric cars, two Windmill Towers drop rides, the Buffalo Falls water raft ride, and Trekking Tractors.

When it comes to F&B, there will be Al’s Garage and Route 83 Diner, and for children, Tornado Springs will have two new playgrounds – Parking Lot Tots and Junkyard Junction.

Rides include Storm Chaser, Cyclonator, Buffalo Falls

“We felt that the theming of Tornado Springs was a natural fit with the traditional family values with which Paultons Park is synonymous,” Mancey added.

“We’ve coupled the vibrant appeal and charm of the 1950’s era with best-in-class rides and attractions to create a truly unique world which, in association with our existing fantastic themed lands, will stand head and shoulders above any other family attraction in the UK.”

Tornado Springs already has four themed worlds – Peppa Pig World, Critter Creek, Little Africa and Lost Kingdom.

In May, MK Themed Attractions, the Danish theming expert, revealed it will be producing and installing all theming for Paultons Park’s Tornado Springs, while The Leisure Expert Group created the design and visuals for the new area.
