Merlin Entertainments is launching two new experiences at Sea Life Manchester and Legoland Discovery Centre Manchester this Easter.

A brand-new area has been developed at Sea Life Manchester called The Lair of the Giant Crab. It is a 360-degree experience featuring two sea creatures – a giant Japanese Spider Crab, which can grow to up to 18 feet from claw to claw, and a Giant Pacific Octopus.

It is the first time either creature has been available to see in the northwest of England. Visitors will be able to learn about what it means to survive in the underwater world of the Pacific Ocean. The new additions join over 5,000 creatures at the attraction.

At Legoland Discovery Centre Manchester visitors will be able to partake in a new interactive experience called Space Mission. The intergalactic adventure will provide visitors the opportunity to build their own Lego rockets and explore alien landscapes, before taking command at Lego’s mission control base and blasting a shuttle into space

Space Mission will replace City Builder which will remain on display until the end of February.

Both new experiences are due to launch before Easter and are the latest in a string of developments at the attractions that has seen Merlin Entertainments invest £400,000 ($566,000).

Jenn McDonough, General Manager Manchester Cluster at Merlin Entertainments, said: “Sea Life Manchester and Legoland Discovery Centre Manchester are two of our leading attractions and have been inspiring, exciting and educating families for over seven years.

“We’re committed to delivering new experiences for both first-time visitors and returning guests and promise the features will bring something incredible to the northwest.”

Collectively, over the last seven years, Sea Life Manchester and Legoland Discovery Centre Manchester have welcomed over 3.5 million visitors.
