SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment is partnering with MacGillivray Freeman Films to deliver three new and exclusive flying films for 2019.

The trio of ride films will be available for use with Vertical 4D Experience, SimEx-Iwerks’ latest theatre attraction that simulates the sensation of flight. Released in the spring, Flying Across America will be followed in summer by Flying Around The World. Out in the fall (autumn) will be Flying Wild.

To date, MacGillivray Freeman’s film content has surpassed $1 billion in box office sales. The California studio boasts over 35 giant-screen films to its name. These include two Academy Award nominations and the highest-grossing documentary of 2016, National Parks Adventure.

“We are storytellers,” says MacGillivray Freeman Films president, Shaun MacGillivray. “When SimEx-Iwerks shared their new Vertical 4D Experience design, we knew we could deliver pristine aerial films that could complement the ride technology to capture the true feeling of having wings.”

With its unique design, SimEx-Iwerks says its Vertical 4D Experience offers a high-impact flying experience that is cost-effective and easy-to-maintain. Audiences are immersed in a giant screen, 2D or 3D environment with a patented thrust capability, three degrees of freedom and a full arsenal of special effects. Theatres are scalable from 30 to 100 seats, over two or three tiers.

“We have been developing this breakthrough in 4D technology for three years,” says SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment president and Michael Needham. “We are proud to introduce our Vertical 4D Experience at our booth (#2281) during the IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando.”
