Tema Design by MK Illumination has announced the appointment of Peter Henriksen to the role of Head of Design.

Tema Design by MK Illumination appoints Peter Henriksen as Head of DesignHenriksen has over twenty years of experience in the industry working as a designer and art director on a number of key themed attractions. These include projects for Skånes Djurpark and Den Blå Planet among others.

For over 12 years, he served as Senior Art Director for the world-famous Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Here, working with the Danish Royal Family, he was involved with everything from ballet performances to music concerts and theatrical events.

From concept development to designing whole theme parks

Henriksen joined MK Illumination in May and has already applied his extensive knowledge to the group’s range of companies. Aside from Tema Design by MK Illumination, he works with global lighting leader, MK Illumination, as well as Creation Group which specialises in animatronics.

“I am lucky to get to play with all of Europe and have the entire world as my office,” observes Henriksen. “All the three companies we have under the same roof supply the big wide world, which is one of the things that makes this workplace completely unique.

“The projects I work on are projects you cannot find elsewhere, as I work with both concept development and get to design a whole amusement park from A to Z.”

Tema Design by MK Illumination creates scenic environments, decorative features,
lighting concepts and themed attractions.

The company is staffed by 250 highly-skilled employees ranging from sculptures, artists, carpenters, engineers, architects, electricians and mechanics to specialists in 3D and design.

Recent projects include Halloween theming for Parc Saint Paul amusement park in Picardy, France. Known for the quality of its fibreglass products, Tema Design by MK Illumination was tasked with creating huge 4 metre-tall skeletons designed to thrill visitors and withstand anything the autumn weather is likely to throw at them.
