Two Bit Circus are hosting a series of esports tournaments at their Micro-Amusement Park in downtown Los Angeles.

The tournaments include a curated lineup of games of all different types, from popular titles like Fortnite and Super Smash Bros., to indie favourites like Killer Queen.

By hosting tournaments at the Micro-Amusement Park, Two Bit Circus hopes to create a fun, casual atmosphere, unlike high-stakes, stadium-style competitions.

Tournament schedule

Thursday, June 13, 6pm – World of Tanks Tournament

  • Be the FIRST to play 4v4 on Hologate

  • Cost to enter: $20

Saturday, June 15, 1pm – Fortnite

  • Can enter individually or in pairs
  • Cost to enter: Solo Entry: $15, Dual Entry: $30

Saturday, July 13, 1pm – Mortal Kombat 11

  • Ages 18 and over
  • Cost to enter: $20

Saturday, August 3, 1pm – Killer Queen

  • Can enter in teams of 5 or individually
  • Cost to enter: $5

Saturday, August 17, 1pm – Super Smash Bros.

An experimental entertainment company, Two Bit Circus creates immersive experiences using a fusion of technology and spectacle.

The team of performers, inventors, artists and educators build social games and experiences to engage, inspire and reinvent the way people play.

The one-acre Micro-Amusement Park combines old school carnival and circus amusements with cutting-edge tech. It’s split into areas and features over 28 VR zones.

With guests able to play, eat and drink and enjoy life in high-res, the park is uniquely equipped to provide a great tournament experience for participants and onlookers.

The growth of esports

The first purpose-built esports arena was recently announced for the US. Elsewhere, top gaming group Tencent is increasing its investment in esports tournaments in China.

Blooloop spoke to industry experts Professor Andy Miah and Brian Mirakian about the growth of esports and what this will mean for the visitor experience.
