Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience is heading to Leicester’s All Saints Church, following successful runs in Brussels, Naples and York. The travelling exhibition is launching in Leicester in January, 2020.

The attraction will debut at All Saints Church, Highcross Street on January 31. It is currently running at York St Mary’s, Castlegate, until it closes on January 5.

Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience uses cutting-edge virtual projection to immerse guests in the universe of Vincent Van Gogh.

Visitors will take part in a unique sound and light show as they enjoy the world and images of the Dutch post-impressionist painter.

Guests will be immersed in Van Gogh’s life and art

The travelling exhibition is designed for visitors of all ages, and combines Van Gogh’s life story with an in-depth, immersive look at his art. More than 200 of Van Gogh’s works will be featured during the 360-degree experience.

Guests will discover more about the life of Van Gogh, including his time at the convent and in Arles, and secrets from his letters to his brother.

At the end of Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience, there will be a virtual reality (VR) experience, taking guests even deeper into his life in Arles.

They will journey through eight Van Gogh artworks and their sources of inspiration, including the artist’s room, the meadows, forest and village, culminating with ‘Starry Night Over the Rhône’.

The project comes from Mario Iacampo, creative director and founder of Exhibition Hub. He told Leicestershire Live: “For so many people, art is inaccessible.

“Paintings hang isolated in galleries where you understand little about the work. This immersive experience changes that completely.

“Some of the most famous art works in the world are shown on a grand scale, and brought to life with movement that isn’t confined to the edges of a picture frame.”

Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience will be at All Saints Church from January 31 to May 10, 2020.
