Leading water attractions innovator, Polin Waterparks, is set to unveil a virtual reality version of its water-powered interactive game, Splash Cabin, at the Euro Attractions Show next week.
The original game is currently proving a hit at Aquafantasy Waterpark in Turkey.
Now, the new VR Splash Cabin promises to take the unique, immersive experience to a whole new level.
Like its earlier 3D iteration, VR Splash Cabin has been developed in collaboration with Dutch tech gaming specialist, Lagotronics Projects.
Guests don VR goggles and are transported virtually to a remote island. They float along streams and through villages, and become immersed in a mega water battle. Armed with handheld shooters, players compete with one another to earn points and ‘stay alive’.
What will interest operators is that the whole, wide-ranging experience takes place inside a cabin just 3.8 metres long x 3.6 metres wide of space (12.5 feet long x 12 feet wide). Which means, it can fit into pretty much any location.
The power of a true VR experience
Splash Cabin VR delivers a full 360-degree experience using the highest-resolution virtual-reality equipment on the market. This is designed to give players the sensation of living ‘inside the game’ while defending themselves using fully robust and durable water shooters. Water will be splashed back at them – controlled by Polin’s system – according to their game play.
According to Mark Beumers, CEO of Lagotronics Projects, guests who have only experienced home-based VR on consumer devices will be amazed by the level of immersion:
“The VR Splash Cabin allows them to finally feel the power of a true VR experience,” he says.
“When they enter the Splash Cabin and put on their VR goggles, they will believe they truly are lost on a remote island. Our interactive hardware is a powerful system, and guests will feel its breadth in this new aquatic attraction.”
Ali Cansun, Polin’s R&D Director, believes the VR Splash Cabin offers guests an experience they won’t find anywhere else in the world:
“The state-of-the-art hardware, software and waterplay components provide the greatest interactive VR experience possible,” explains Cansun.
“And, we’re not beholden to any particular company’s VR equipment when it comes to the future. As the products improve, we will switch brands accordingly to ensure guests get the best available VR glasses in the world.”
EAS attendees are invited to experience a dry version of VR Splash Cabin at Polin’s booth #418 in Hall 18 at the 2017 Euro Attractions Show (EAS) in the Messe Berlin Exhibition Centre, Berlin from 26-28 September 2017.
