National Football Museum

The new National Football museum wanted a fully interactive experience to give visitors a feel for what it’s like to be one of the superstars of football – from the pressure of scoring a penalty to the exhilaration of lifting the winners’ cup.

The client was very particular in their choice of team, wanting a team with a real passion for the project, who would all blend seamlessly, to overcome any problems and produce a world-class attraction. DJW was contracted to design, integrate, commission and programme the audio visual system, including a full lighting design, as well as all of the exhibition electrical and audio visual cabling.

DJW was fully responsible for specifying, developing and integrating an innovative system, Football Plus+. This lets the National Football Museum manage the number of visitors using the most popular interactives, whilst also creating a revenue stream in a free museum. DJW worked with other contractors to integrate Football Plus+ into the museum’s EPOS system and website for interactive credit purchases and accessing images post visit.

DJW also created galleries buzzing with light and sound, panoramic curved projection screens bring football to life in two galleries, while a special theatre with a 15.9 metre curved screen shows the diversity of the beautiful game. Visitors explore the game in to new depths and look at it from new angles in the games, where they could be providing the commentary for an FA Cup match or hearing about stadium disasters from supporters.
