Netherlands theme park Toverland has broken its own attendance record again after launching new attractions and expanding its events in 2023.

Last year, 1,165,000 people visited Toverland, an increase of 13 percent compared to 2022, also a record-breaking year in which the park welcome its millionth visitor.

Jean Gelissen Jr, Toverland’s general manager, said: “Not only did we welcome more guests than ever before, but also our guest satisfaction was higher than ever before, an insane combination of which we and our entire ‘Toverteam’ are very proud.”

Toverland’s new attractions and events

Toverland has attributed the increase in attendance to the launch of four new attractions last summer as part of its €11.5 million expansion of the Avalon area.

“This expansion has turned Avalon into a full-fledged theme area, which allows us to attract a broader target audience and makes visitors stay a lot longer in this area,” Gelissen Jr added.

Toverland has also put the growth down to extended opening times and new seasonal events such as the Now You’re Mine haunt experience.

“Our investments in shows and seasonal events in 2023 clearly paid off,” said Gelissen Jr. “We stimulate our guests to visit us multiple times a year by presenting a versatile and unique offer, which resulted in the highest number of guests with an annual pass ever.”

Additionally, Toverland has “noticed a massive domestic and international growth in brand awareness”, he added.

This year, Toverland will continue to expand its seasonal events, and will start building the ‘Clubhuis’, a new space for the Toverland team. In the future, Toverland plans to add overnight accommodation for theme park guests.
