Great Wolf Resorts is expanding to Arizona with plans to open a 350-room resort and 85,000 sq ft waterpark by the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick stadium complex near Scottsdale.
The resort will be the first Great Wolf Lodge in the state and the company’s eighteenth in North America. Being constructed on an 18-acre plot, it will include lodge-style accommodation, a 27,000 sq ft Great Wolf Adventure Park, restaurants and retail space as well as the waterpark.
Murray Hennessy, CEO of Great Wolf Resorts, said in a statement: “The family-friendly environment fostered by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community makes Talking Stick the perfect location for a Great Wolf Lodge.
“We look forward to bring a part of this community as it continues to grow into the Southwest’s premier family destination.”
The waterpark will feature body slides, tube slides and raft rides as well as pools and splash areas. Meanwhile, the adventure park will have a multi-level ropes course, miniature golf, arcade and a live-action adventure game called MagiQuest.
The resort will also include a yoga program for children, an evening bedtime story and an animated show that uses projection mapping technology. It is expected to open in 2019.
