Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) is celebrating its 30th anniversary with various sinister experiences between September 3 and October 31.
The event will include 10 haunted houses, five scare zones and two live shows inspired by big brands in horror and pop culture. Additionally, the first haunted house will be based on 1988’s Beetlejuice.
Halloween Horror Nights debuted in 1991 as Fright Nights, with Beetlejuice serving as the first ‘ghost host’. This year, Beetlejuice returns alongside recreated scenes from the film.
HHN’s 30th anniversary
Visitors will get to mark 30 years of HHN as they experience the Maitland home’s haunted attic, the model graveyard, and Dante’s Inferno Room.
Universal Orlando will reveal more information about Halloween Horror Nights in the coming months. The resort continues to monitor health and safety amid COVID-19.
Halloween Horror Nights 2020 was cancelled at Universal Orlando due to the pandemic. However, the attraction ended up putting on two haunted houses – Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives and Revenge of the Tooth Fairy.
This came after the haunted houses were tested at the resort, which resulted in Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay all hitting limited capacity in September.
Beetlejuice movie scenes
Universal Orlando also responded to the chilling cancellation of HHN with its Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store. The retail outlet had four themed rooms, one of which was inspired by Beetlejuice.
Meanwhile, Universal Orlando Resort has restarted work on Epic Universe, after pausing construction due to the pandemic in July 2020.
“The restart of construction of Epic Universe is a terrific moment for our employees and for our theme park business in Florida,” said Brian L Roberts, chairman and CEO of Comcast.
Epic Universe is situated on 750 acres. It will be comprised of a theme park, entertainment centre, hotels, shops and F&B. It is located close to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
