Construction is progressing on the enormous Godzilla model at Nijigen no Mori in Japan, which is part of the theme park’s Godzilla-themed expansion.
The new photos were posted to Twitter by @horohoro_no_mi and @riku2006, and unveil the giant Godzilla attraction nearing completion.
Described as the “world’s largest life-size Godzilla”, the replica will measure 20 metres high, 25 metres wide and 55 metres long.
The images also offer a look at Godzilla’s huge head, gaping mouth and spiny back, seen alongside construction equipment at Nijigen no Mori.
Nijigen no Mori announced the new Godzilla area last year. It was originally scheduled to open in summer 2020, but has seemingly been delayed by COVID-19.

The park is located on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture, and the Godzilla area will be called ‘Godzilla Interception Operation Awaji’.
As well as the monster model, Godzilla Interception Operation Awaji will feature a zip line and a shooting game for guests to aim at Godzilla’s radioactive cells.
It will also boast a gift shop, dining, and its own backstory. According to the press release, Godzilla attacked Awaji Island in the Meiji era.
Nijigen no Mori also includes rides and attractions based on Japanese anime and cartoon characters, including Crayon Shin-chan, Naruto and Boruto.
Last month, Nijigen no Mori announced that it would be holding an advanced opening for its Godzilla Museum, paying homage to the giant monster’s legacy.

The museum housed dioramas of scenes from Godzilla movies, which were created in cooperation with Toho, the studio in charge of producing the films.
In addition, it had rooms featuring more than 80 Godzilla figures, props for Godzilla films used by Toho, and prototype models of the different monsters, including Mothra.
The Nijigen no Mori gift shop was selling limited edition Godzilla items, and the restaurant was serving a special Godzilla menu. There were also Godzilla-themed workshops for children.
The advanced opening ended on August 31, when the museum, shop and restaurant closed until the rest of the attraction launches. It’s not known when it will officially open.
