YTG Agency, an experiential artist agency, has teamed up with Portion, a blockchain marketplace for art, to launch a blockchain-enabled art experience, entitled ‘2120: An Art Experience’.

The artainment exhibition features installations by Jacob M Fisher, a New York-based installation artist known for his large-scale string and light work.

2120: An Art Experience opens on February 1 at 2307 Broadway on the Upper West Side, Manhattan, New York City.

It explores what art might be like in the year 2120, in a world that transacts on blockchain and values shared experiences.

“This is a work that belongs to everyone who experiences it,” said Jason Rosenstein, co-founder of Portion.

“Weā€™re imagining a world where shared experiences and fractional ownership are the norm,” said YTG Agency’s Richard Heby.

At the exhibition, Fisher explores collective memory and nostalgia, and combines new materials with dynamic digital forms to create a unified artwork and shared experience.

In addition, visitors can buy one limited-edition puzzle piece, cut from a larger drawing of 247 pieces. This gives guests fractional ownership of a physical work.

Attendees can also register at Portion.io, where the record will be available on the blockchain, making the artwork a permanent and shareable digital artefact.

Immersive experiences are currently all the rage. Last year, an immersive augmented reality (AR) journey around the planet, Arcadia Earth, launched in NYC.

Elsewhere, teamLab SuperNature Macao is opening at the Venetian Macao in March 2020. It will be an interactive, digital-only experience that blurs the boundaries between the world of art and the human body.
