An Art Director at Universal Creative, Kim Gritzer has helped shape both the award-winning Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Universal Orlando and Super Nintendo Land at Universal Studios Japan.
Now based in Orlando, Gritzer moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career in themed entertainment after studying theatrical set design at the University of Texas. Prior to joining Universal in 2016, she worked on the design of Genting SkyWorlds theme park in Malaysia.
A multi-disciplined artist, Gritzer says, “I have had the privilege of being a concept artist, scenic painter, sculptor, show set designer, props artisan, graphic designer, production designer and art director. I usually start with a sketch, and then move to a physical model. While many colleagues no longer use physical models, I firmly believe that nothing communicates a space better. My creative process is collaborative and open. I am not afraid to utilise an idea that I hadn’t thought of, and give the credit where it is due.”
