Professional design event features three days of networking and talks

SEGD (the Society for Experiential Graphic Design), a multidisciplinary global community of professionals, has announced details of its upcoming conference, which will be held in Portland, US.

SEGD 2022 Conference Experience Portland promises to provide attendees with three inspirational days of experiential design programming at Hyatt Regency Portland, at the Oregon Convention Center from 16 – 18 June 2022.

The conference is unique in that it is the only event of its type specifically devised for the experiential design community including graphic and exhibition designers, architects, interaction designers, branding and strategy experts, technology integrators, fabricators and their clients.

An SEGD representative says: “In Portland, the Conference participants will gather to re-examine experiential design practices and to chart the future of experiences for the built environment.

“Partnering with Portland designers Kathy Fry, SEGD President (Mayer/Reed), Traci Sym, SEGD Vice President (+&>), and Alper Yurtseven (Mayer/Reed), the Conference’s programming is crafted around three intersecting themes: Community, Creativity and Resonance.”

This year’s event will see creative luminaries from around the world convene in Oregon to explore the themes of the community, sustainability, inclusive design practice and design excellence.

Three days of activity

On 16 June, attendees will be provided with a wide range of extra-curricular activities such as wayfinding tours of Oregon Zoo and The Portland Japanese Garden, as well as walking and bike tours of other state establishments.

2022 SEGD Global Design Awards winners will be announced on 17 June, following hands-on workshops, Young Designer Mentor Meet-Ups and NEXPO Talks with industry leaders from the experiential sector.

The final day of the SEGD Conference will feature SEGD Excellence in Design Case Studies and an evening Chapter Reception to provide ample networking and collaboration time for attendees.

SEGD CEO Cybelle Jones says: “The gathering of the SEGD community is mission-critical to elevating experience design as the field of practice that puts people–their stories, needs and dreams at the centre of all design. In Portland, we will come together to strengthen our networks, connect and amplify the importance of interdisciplinary design with a future focus.”

Further program information and conference registration details can be found on the SEGD website. Prospective NEXPO exhibitors and sponsors should contact Jennette Foreman.
