Old Port of Montreal

Countless outdoor activities and events right in the heart of Montreal.

The Old Port of Montreal is a recreational tourism site in the City of Montreal, Canada. For the past 25 years, the location has offered a variety of family, nautical, and other leisure activities to more than 6 million visitors annually. The Old Port of Montreal is a division of the Canada Lands Company.

The area is home to the Montreal Science Centre with more than 650,000 visitors each year exploring scientific discovery throughout its exhibitions and IMAX screen. Other activities and attractions include terraces, an urban beach, and one of the finest skating rinks in the country.

Events at Old Port Montreal include a wide range of cultural, culinary, sporting, and musical events, including open-air festivals and the internationally renowned Cirque du Soleil and Igloofest.

There is a rich history in the Old Port, both as a port and as a maritime, technological, and industrial site, with significant Quebec and Canadian heritage value.

It is located close to Place Royale, where the City of Montreal was founded, the Main (Saint-Laurent Boulevard) National Historic Site and the Lachine Canal National Historic Site. The iconic Clock Tower building was erected between 1919-1922 to make the entrance to the port and commemorate soldiers in the First World War who were lost at sea.
