Sugar Studios is a studio space available to hire in South East London.
Originally created as space to shoot MDM Props‘ creations, the prop, model and scenery maker that has been making props next door for 30 years in an old Tate & Lyle refinery on the Greenwich Peninsula.
Their clients began to ask “could we shoot here too?”
And so the Sugar Studios team opened up the studios, to the wider industry to shoot. Their spaces include:
- Infinity Stage- U shaped stage with one of the biggest coves in London, drive in capabilities
- White / Blackbox studio- smaller U shape studio with instant blackout drapes
- Greenscreen- Chromakey, u-shaped, maintained to the perfect share
- The big space- sprung wooden floor, perfect for rehearsals or motion capture
In addition to the shooting spaces, there are a number of breakout zones to relax when you’re not needed on set. There is also the Sugar Cafe whose menu included meat-rich, meat-free, gluten-free or vegan choices.
Access to the studios is right off a main road, onto the vehicle ramp and through our wide, super-high roller door into the studios. They’ve had cars, aircraft cockpits and other large stuff wheeled straight into the infinity stage!
The Sugar Studios team can help from optioning and planing right the way through to the day itself, they are always on hand to help with arrangements and bring their ‘can do’ attitude. You can bring your own setbuilder and props, or you can make use of MDM Prop’s talented scenic construction artists and modelmakers on the other side of the building. The team are always happy to quote you for your project needs, or turn something around last minute if you’re grabbed by sudden inspiration during the shoot, just ask!
