Herschend has announced the acquisition of Pink Adventure Tours.  The purchase marks the start of Herschend Enterprises’ move into the adventure travel industry.

The adventure tour company, founded in 1960, currently operates out of Sedona, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon National Park.

The move signals Herschend Enterprises’ expansion into the adventure travel industry. Adventure travel is a hugely vibrant sector of the travel market, expected to experience 46 percent annual growth rate through 2020, according to Sandler Research.

“Their values, structure and commitment to safety makes Pink Adventure Tours a great fit for our family of companies,” says Andrew Wexler, CEO of Herschend Enterprises. “This acquisition expands our business into the rapidly growing market of adventure travel and gives Herschend another opportunity to intersect with families by offering unique experiences in some of the country’s most unique settings.”

Herschend Enterprises focuses on wholesome family entertainment. Its operating companies include Herschend Studios, the Harlem Globetrotters and Herschend Family Entertainment.

“I could not have picked a better company than Herschend Enterprises to take the reins of Pink Adventure Tours,” says Shawn Wendell, owner of Pink Adventure Tours. “We built this company with integrity and a culture of trust, family and adventure.” He lauds Herschend as a “wholesome company committed to their employees, customers and community while delivering fun, safe and entertaining activities to guests of all ages. It gives me great pleasure to know that, going forward, Pink Adventure Tours will be owned and operated by a family enterprise with similar values and goals.”

Pink Adventure Tours currently offers a wide range of tours that give guests up-close encounters with the wild beauty of the American Southwest. Its 150-strong ‘Pink Fleet’ encompasses customised Jeep Wranglers, Tour Trekker SUVs and Mercedes Sprinters. It is the only tour company whose guide trainers are certified by the National Association for Interpretation and all guides use the Smith System of Driving. The company has won the ward Southern Nevada Concierge Association’s Best Ground Tour Company for seven consecutive years. It has served over five million guests in its 58 years in business.

Pink Adventure Tours will keep its headquarters in Sedona, Arizona. It will operate under the direction of Pink COO and president Tim Miller.
