Belgian theme park Bobbejaanland is to open a new themed area for the upcoming season. Designed by the Leisure Expert Group from the Netherlands, Land of Legends will feature scenic elements by Themebuilders.

The area will be anchored by a Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster called Fury – as pictured above. Standing 40-metres high, the ride will feature three launches and reach a top speed of 100km/h. Joining it in Land of Legends will be the park’s existing Typhoon (EuroFighter) coaster, also by Gerstlauer, and Sledgehammer, a Giant Frisbee from Huss.

Leisure Expert Group’s (LEG) concept for Land of Legends will be complemented by scenic production from Themebuilders. This will be LEG’s first project for Bobbejaanland, although it has worked previously at Movie Park Germany, a sister Parques Reunidos property.

“The park was very aware of what they wanted and what group to target,” says Max Reims of the Leisure Expert Group. “During the design of Land of Legends, we have been inspired by popular video games and popular superhero movies. We have tried to create a special realm where the help of guests is needed to protect the four elements of water, fire, earth and air from evil.”

The concept and storyline for the new area were influenced by market research conducted by Bobbejaanland. From this, LEG prepared sketches and designs for elements such as statues and coaster stations. Themebuilders was then requested to realise most of the scenic elements from its workshop in the Philippines.

High-quality, detailed fibreglass sculptures are being produced of characters such as the Guardian of the Elements, Boy of Light – as pictured – Sky Rider, Witch Cabin, a water monster and water warriors. There will also be four entrance portals for Land of Legends, plus additional theming for the new coaster. Opening is expected in June.

“We are very pleased with the opportunity to collaborate with Bobbejaanland,” says Themebuilders’ general manager, Joanne Ocampo. “We are convinced that the talent of our artists and skilled workers applied to the overall concept made by LEG will make Land of Legends one of the signature attractions in Europe for 2019.”
