Established in 1987, Wētā Workshop is a creative studio combining artistry and innovation. Over the past 30 years, Richard Taylor, Tania Rodger and their team have produced vast and exciting projects collaborating with clients in one of the world’s most creative industries. Home to a 58,000-square-foot facility, the creatives behind its projects work extremely hard to produce world-class creations across multi-disciplines. From the initial stages of creativity to manufacturing and final delivery, Wētā Workshop produces award-winning designs built with enthusiasm and excellence.

Our work

Based in Wellington, New Zealand, the team has the ability to design, build and create nearly any creative brief that may be thrown their way. With an execution of the highest quality and the ability to deliver to any corner of the world, Weta Workshop has created a wide range of projects including mixed reality experiences, weapons, vehicles, entire worlds, ecosystems, themed attractions, art exhibitions and children’s playgrounds.

The team thrive off imaginative ideas and has the ability to showcase all elements of creativity to audiences all over the world. The team’s 40 production staff, designers and art directors collaborate to produce captivating content for the world’s most creative industry, including Gallipoli: The Scale of Our War Exhibition and The Forest at the Edge of the Sky experience.

Location Based Entertainment

Wētā Workshop showcases its excellence through location based entertainment, themed attractions and exhibitions around the world. Working together as a collaborative team, designers and creatives share their skills and knowledge within the three stages of vision, concept and development. The team loves it when they can work closely with the production and at the ground force of the project.

Alif: The Mobility Pavilion debuted in Dubai 2020 enabling creators to tell authentic stories to millions of visitors through the use of 3 nine-meter hyper-realistic sculptures. This experience told the story of human mobility and was able to connect with audiences both physically and emotionally. Using unique spatial awareness and cinematography, the team at Wētā Workshop was able to captivate visitors and fully immerse them into the narrative in this one-of-a-kind experience.
