Denver Art Museum to use $25m Gift to Renovate Gio Ponti Building

Denver Art Museum plans to use a $25 million gift to renovate the Gio Ponti building which opened in 1971.

The gift – the largest in the Museum’s history – has been donated by board chairman J. Landis “Lanny” Martin and his wife, Sharon.  The full cost of the project is estimated at $150 million.

The iconic seven-story modernist Gio Ponti building will be renamed the J. Landis and Sharon Martin Building.  Current schedules have the work completing by 2021 in time for the North Building’s 50th anniversary.

Architectural partners Fentress Architects and Machado Silvetti Architects are responsible for the renovation design.
