The Museum of the Rockies is planning a $4 million expansion. The new Curatorial Center for the Humanities (CCR) will be used to house artifacts currently stored in the Museum’s basement, freeing up space for paleontology research.

The 18,000 square foot facility will be finished in June but will not be open to the public.

The CCR will be used for much needed additional storage space for Montana humanities artifacts currently stored in the basement of the museum.

The extra capacity will give the paleontology department extra space to store their collection of dinosaur relics and the opportunity to expand their research facilities, with core staff numbers planned to increase from 5 to 8.

The money for the expansion has come from the Museum’s fundraising.
