Six Flags Zhejiang, China

China’s first Six Flags Zhejiang park is due to open in June 2020.

The production of equipment for the Zhejiang Liuqi Water Park is largely complete, and installation is to take place in the first half of this year.

A collaboration between the U.S.-based Six Flags Entertainment Company and its Chinese partner, Riverside Investment Group, the water park will be sited in Haiyan County, Jiaxing, on the edge of Hangzhou Bay, in Zhejiang Province, within easy reach of Shanghai.

The water park is being developed alongside the Six Flags Zhejiang theme park.

While specific attractions have not yet been announced, Six Flags Zhejiang theme parkwill feature a number of record-breaking roller coasters, unique thrill experiences, incredible live shows, and more.

Further Chinese parks are in the pipeline, including Six Flags Kids’ World, Six Flags Chongqing and an outdoor Six Flags Adventure Park located adjacent to the Six Flags Chonqing site.

Six Flags Kids’ World will feature junior versions of the company’s coasters and rides, with themed characters, child-friendly restaurants and shops.

Six Flags overseas developments delayed

Earlier this month, the Six Flags theme park project in Dubai was put on hold as financing was no longer available.

In addition, it was announced that the projects in China will also be delayed by about a year.

Six Flags CEO Jim Reid-Anderson attributed the delays to “a potential lumpiness of our international development assets” in the near future.

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation is the largest regional theme park company and operator of waterparks in North America, in terms of properties owned, with parks across the U.S, Canada and Mexico.

The Riverside Group is a leading real estate developer, with a focus on tourism, culture, healthcare, entertainment and residential buildings, investing, constructing and operating high-end communities.
