Blue Telescope New Hires 2023

The growing interactive exhibit agency preps for another big year

Blue Telescope, an award-winning, interactive exhibit agency, has announced new appointments and promotions following a successful year of projects which included the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and the Sloan Museum of Discovery, both US.

The people of Blue Telescope come from a wide variety of backgrounds, interests, identities, and areas of expertise—and this is by design. The collaboration across different perspectives makes the work more meaningful to more people, bringing distinctive magic to everything they do.

“I passionately believe that a more diverse and balanced team creates more opportunities for outstanding work,” says principal and managing director Trent Oliver. “We encourage people to bring their whole selves to the table—including their identities and intellectual curiosities— creating a supportive environment where we can trust that everyone will do their best.”

Promotions of two rising stars

Dustin Stephan is a talented producer who joined the team in 2020. With an extensive background in dance performance, he has experience in managing the various details of complex productions.

“The high-profile Kennedy Space Center project opened to public acclaim, a testament to Dustin’s handling of the details,” says Blue Telescope. “Even as he juggles multiple complicated projects, he makes clients feel they have 100% of his attention.”

Newly promoted to senior creative producer, Stephan will improve internal production processes, helping the team find new efficiencies while maintaining the team’s high standards and continuing to manage client projects. Blue Telescope reports that Stephan particularly appreciates having the opportunity to work with stories that matter.

Reese Patillo joined Blue Telescope in 2021, bringing her remarkable talents in UI/UX design, graphic design, and animation.

“She’s a gifted designer with a fantastic sense of visual style,” adds Blue Telescope. “Her superpower is the ability to translate the visions of multiple stakeholders into a final product that appeals across the board.

“Reese brings wise leadership and careful consideration to her projects, such as her outstanding work on the African / American Foodways project with the Museum of Food and Drink.”

As a creative designer, Patillo is taking on creative direction for several key projects, working more directly with clients and leading with her creative vision whilst still working on design work and creating interactives for all ages.

Expanding the team with great players

Kelli Patterson joined the team in late 2022 as an associate creative producer. With a background in art, mass communications, and human resources, Kelli serves as an intermediary between clients and the internal team to deliver projects end to end.

“I’m grateful to have the opportunity to serve our communities by producing experiences that excite and educate and to collaborate with a team that strives to make work interesting and impactful,” says Patterson.

“Kelli is exceptionally well-organised, brings exuberant energy to every project, and cares about giving back to the community. Her experience running a smooth production, particularly her work at an executive briefing centre, made her an ideal hire for Blue Telescope,” adds the company.

Carly Hayter joined the team in 2023 as creative web developer. An artist with a degree in molecular biology, Carly is a self-taught web developer taking on various web-related tasks for Blue Telescope.

“I am excited to join a company that is creative, mission-based, and filled with smart, caring people,” says Hayter. She adds that she enjoys solving puzzles to create optimal web experiences and appreciates having the freedom to try new things.

With these strategic shifts in staffing, Blue Telescope has optimised for success as it plans to take on a compelling slate of projects for museums, themed entertainment, and business venues and continued growth in 2023.

Blue Telescope upgraded the exhibition experience at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex with new features such as a Robotic Space Explorers Wall, which allow visitors to discover new technology.
