Keynote speakers revealed

Ewine van Dishoeck

Ecsite has now announced two keynote speakers for the event, Ewine van Dishoeck and John H. Falk.

In a session entitled Our origins in space, Dr van Dishoeck will talk about her work in the world of chemistry, physics and astronomy to follow the trail of molecules from tenuous interstellar clouds to new planetary systems. She is currently a professor of molecular astrophysics at Leiden University and has been recognised with several prizes throughout her career, including the Kavli Prize for Astrophysics in 2018.

In his keynote session, Re-thinking how to define and measure the value of museum experiences, Dr Falk will discuss his research looking at how to understand the identity/self-related reasons people utilise free-choice learning settings during their leisure time.

John H Falk

The multi-award-winning Dr Falk studies the community impacts of museums, libraries, zoos and aquariums and in order to help cultural institutions re-think their educational positioning in the 21st century. He is the Director of the Institute for Learning Innovation and a leading expert on free-choice learning.

Learning, networking and more

The virtual conference will be hosted on Hopin, allowing participants to access interactive areas and to easily network with their peers. Attendees can jump into speed meetings, search for other participants and book one-to-one or small group meetings.

In addition, participants can enjoy the Business Buzz, the conference’s trade fair, where exhibitors will showcase the latest products and services with live sessions, demonstrations and promotional videos.

The Ecsite Online Conference will also feature social events, such as the annual party and a ‘not-so-Nocturne’.

This year, Ecsite is also introducing its new Solidarity scheme, where participants can gift a conference ticket to those who might be new to the event or who might not be able to afford a ticket.

Last year’s Ecsite virtual conference brought its members together to connect, learn and share knowledge through #EcsiteOnline.
