Aaron De Groft, director of the Orlando Museum of Art (OMA), revealed that the museum is expanding into a state-of-the-art location within a luxury apartment tower.
OMA will anchor the 33-storey tower at Church, Lake and Pine streets. The building from Summa Development Group LLC and SDG, LLC will also feature a luxury restaurant and housing, as well as a convention centre and hotel.
“The initiatives we are pursuing are transformational, representing a bold, new vision for Orlando Museum of Art while simultaneously re-positioning us to make a deeper investment into our community both culturally and economically,” said De Groft.

“We are confident our donors and constituents will appreciate and be equally motivated to help bring this vision to life and we look forward to realizing these plans while continuing our dedication to be inclusive and equitable within our community.”
The expansion is part of three initiatives described as an “aggressive relaunch” for OMA. The other initiatives include renovating the museum’s current space and a “bold, new vision” for the institution’s works of art.
The Orlando Museum of Art is putting on six major exhibitions at its current location, featuring the artwork of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Rembrandt, Botticelli and Jackson Pollock.

“We are celebrating our 2024 centennial with a commitment to be an even greater force in our community with two locations, highly regarded and sought-after works of art, and ultimately, a new dimension of unforgettable experiences at Orlando Museum of Art,” said OMA chair, Cynthia Brumback.
Meanwhile, Universal Orlando has chosen Wendover Housing Partners as the developer to design, build and manage an affordable housing community in Orange County.
