Christie Digital’s rental staging partner, Hexogon Solution Pte Ltd., has used 42 Christie Boxer 4K30 3DLP® projectors to create a dazzling Christmas spectacular in Taipei.
“Christmasland in New Taipei City” is the largest projection mapping performance ever held in Taiwan.
Thousands of spectators turned up to witness the event’s official lighting up ceremony last week, which features the adventures of Santa Bear and the Fang Tou Bear family.
The huge images were projected onto the façade of the 30-storey New Taipei City Hall building in Banqiao District.
The event also showcased a 360-degree projection on a 36-meter-high cone-shaped Christmas tree situated in front of the building.
“Our objective is to create a world-class performance for the enjoyment of Taiwanese spectators during this festive period, ” commented Adrian Goh, Group Managing and Artistic Director, Hexogon. “At the same time, we wish to set the standard of what it takes to deliver a good projection mapping show in terms of technology, brightness and image quality in Taiwan.”
This is the first time Christie Boxer 4K30s have been used for a major event in Taiwan. Preparations for the event began back in June which included creating the characters in 3D for added impact.
“The setting also involved a lot of optical illusion techniques, by conducting many rounds of simulations with mapping to bring the environment to life, ” explained Goh.
Lin Yu, Vice President, Christie Asia Pacific, praised Goh and his team for delivering ‘a fantastic show’ and said Christie looked forward to further joint projects in the future.
