The American Alliance of Museums has announced the first few keynote speakers ahead of its Virtual Annual Meeting and MuseumExpo, taking place this May and June.
The American Alliance of Museums (AAM) is pleased to reveal more details ahead of its first Virtual Annual Meeting, which kicks off on International Museums Day, 18 May, and continues on 1 – 4 June. AAM decided to go virtual after the global coronavirus pandemic led to the cancellation of its annual meeting.
First keynote speakers announced
AAM has now started to reveal the keynote speakers ahead of the event, with more names to follow. The speakers announced so far include Dr Johnnetta B. Cole, President & National Chair, National Council of Negro Women, Inc. and Special Counsel on Strategic Initiatives, Baltimore Museum of Art, as well as Christy Coleman, Executive Director, Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation. Also speaking will be Marina Gorbis, Executive Director, Institute for the Future and Anthony Salcito, Interim Vice President Public Sector & Government, and Vice President Education, Microsoft.
A packed schedule
While there will be more exciting announcements regarding the programme to come, AAM has already revealed the theme of the virtual event: Radical Reimagining.
This theme will allow participants to look at the future of the sector. They will explore how to overcome both the immediate threat but also how to plan for a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient museum community.
The AAM Virtual Annual Meeting will include keynote speakers, alongside a wide range of programming and virtual networking opportunities. There will be four different tracks within the theme, allowing the museum community to reinspire, rebuild, reengage and reconnect.
