Aquatic Development Group, Inc. (ADG) has won an IAAPA Brass Ring Award for the company’s new ride innovation, Breaker Beach™.
The boogie boarding surf ride, rebranded as “Cowabunga Beach™”, debuted this season at Colorado’s Water World Water Park.
“Having a boogie boarding wave pool in a land-locked state has brought a unique experience to our guests, ” commented Joann Cortez, Water World’s Director of Communications.
“We pride ourselves in offering variety to our guest experience and ADG has provided us with a unique addition to our diverse offering of family fun attractions and the project has been a resounding success!”
The Breaker Beach™ Ride is powered by ADG’s cutting-edge WaveTek™ wave generation system, creating continuous 3 ft spilling breakers every 4 seconds. The dual launch peninsula effectively doubles rider capacity, enabling a continuous throughput of over 700 riders per hour.
Jim Dunn, Executive VP for Aquatic Development Group said the ride had been designed to offer parks a compelling alternative to a waterslide package:
“Our new water rides are unique by not only creating an exciting and different ride experience, but by expanding beyond the edge of the water to keep guests interacting with the ride, and in the park, for longer periods of time.”
The company’s approach to both in-water and out-of-water guest experiences aims to reduce rider wait times or get rid of them altogether.
It also allows for the inclusion of ample decking space to maximize capacity and incorporate areas for F&B and retail to boost revenue generation.
“We love that ADG is so far ahead of the curve in the attractions they design, ” added Cortez. “We have a new beach in Colorado and our guests are loving it!”
