Adobe MAX Christie Boxers Light up 4K video mapping spectacular

Leading AV solutions company, Christie Digital, lit up a 4K video mapping spectacular at the Adobe MAX 2016 creativity conference.

WorldStage used 28 Christie Boxer projectors for the massive video display at the San Diego Convention Centre.

The event attracted over 10,000 delegates, its biggest general session audience ever.

“It was an infrastructure challenge to deal with that much 4K video,” admitted Alex Bright, display systems EIC for WorldStage.

“The scale of the screens was about as big as the convention centre allowed, and content delivery required four times the bandwidth of HD for every single projector. However, using the high-resolution, high-brightness Boxers, allowed us to use fewer projectors to cover a large area.”

Scenic designer, Peter Crawford, envisioned the geometric configuration of multi-faceted screens that stretched across the main stage.Ā  Acting as both display surfaces and scenic elements, the screens measured approximately 200 feet wide and 32 feet high.

Projecting onto this complex set presented several challenges and required meticulous planning.

Adobe MAX adds an Extra Dimension

“We had to figure out how high to hang the projectors so they didn’t cast shadows on the screens, and we needed to determine the relative brightness required,” explained Bright.

For the first time, Adobe MAX 2016 integrated video display into the functional on-stage podiums (demo peds), whichĀ brought an extra visual dimension to the general session.

WorldStage installed a 5×2-configuration of Unilumin 3.9mm LED tiles on the face of each demo ped.Ā The d3 4x4pros fed graphical content to the LEDs.

To capture the conference for web streaming and IMAG, WorldStage also provided an eight-camera HD system featuring both manned and robotic cameras.

This is the second year in a row that WorldStage has chosen Christie Boxers for the conference. It also proved to be one of the largest Boxer implementations ever for a corporate event.
