Alton Towers Resort is celebrating its 40th birthday this year, and has announced its biggest programme of events ever for 2020. The party starts in March with the launch of Gangsta Granny: The Ride.

The UK attraction is launching an exciting season of celebrations in 2020 to mark its 40th, kicking off on March 21 with the launch of Gangsta Granny at The World of David Walliams.

The groundbreaking 4D ride experience is based on David Walliams‘ children’s novel, and features state-of-the-art special effects, 3D projection mapping and animation inspired by the artwork of Tony Ross.

The World of David Walliams will also feature more rides and attractions, including Raj’s Shop, the Royal Carousel, and Raj’s Bouncy Bottom Burp.

During half term in May, there will be a Gangsta Granny-themed ‘Half Term Heist’, with activities, challenges and competitions.

Alton Towers is also launching a new Oktoberfest event, offering themed entertainment, F&B, and late-night rides in September and October.

Since the Corkscrew opened in 1980, one in two Brits have visited Alton Towers Resort, which has welcomed more than 200 million guests over the past 40 years.

Alton Towers will donate 10,000 tickets to charities and organisations across the UK.

Earlier this year, Legoland Windsor Resort unveiled the world’s first DUPLO roller coaster, DUPLO Dino Coaster, which is set to open at the expanded DUPLO Valley in March 2020.

Meanwhile, the attractions and areas of Legoland Water Park Gardaland have been unveiled, as has the official opening date, which is scheduled for May 28, 2020.
