Construction is reportedly starting on Triple Five’s American Dream Miami in late 2021, with the mall expected to open by 2025. The retailtainment destination will potentially include an ice rink and aquarium.

According to Miami Herald, Triple Five Worldwide plans to start construction on American Dream Miami in late 2021.

The publication said the news comes via Miguel Diaz de la Portilla, an attorney at Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr who represents Triple Five Worldwide.

Diaz de la Portilla also said Triple Five expects to spend up to $5 billion on the project, which will be modelled on the company’s American Dream in New Jersey.

“Before the end of 2020, we will be submitting a final design and go through an administrative site plan approval,” said Diaz de la Portilla.

Triple Five plans to start an environmental study and project design in spring 2020. This would take approximately 12 to 18 months to complete.

American Dream Miami’s proposed entertainment facilities include the world’s tallest indoor ski park, a permanent Cirque du Soleil show, submarine rides, and an aquarium.

It is also set to feature a water ballet fountain, an arts centre for events and live performances, an indoor water park and a multiscreen cinema complex.

“The one thing that distinguishes us is the entertainment component,” added Diaz de la Portilla.

In May 2018, Miami-Dade County granted final zoning approval to American Dream Miami. County commissioners voted in favour of Triple Five building the largest shopping mall and entertainment complex in the US.

American Dream NJ opened its first phase in October with the Nickelodeon Universe theme park and The Rink, an NHL regulation-sized ice rink.

DreamWorks Water Park was originally set to open in November as part of American Dream’s second phase. However, the debut was postponed, and the new opening date is yet to be confirmed.

The third phase kicked off on December 5 with Big SNOW. In the fourth and final phase, scheduled for March 2020, American Dream will welcome guests to shops, F&B, and the New Jersey SEA LIFE Aquarium.
