American Dream remained closed even though New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy permitted indoor malls in the state to reopen at the end of June. Murphy gave the green light for indoor amusement parks to reopen on September 1.

“We know that our community has been waiting to return, but it was important to us that we took the proper time and precautions needed to welcome guests back in the safest possible manner,” said Mark Ghermezian, co-CEO at American Dream.

“The last several months have been difficult for everyone, and even though we are still adjusting to the new normal, we are confident that we can provide guests a safer environment to make dreams come true for everyone, everywhere, as well as create much needed job opportunities in New Jersey.”

American Dream previously teased that it has been ‘working hard on big projects’ while closed, as it reopened its indoor ski park Big SNOW.

The attraction reopened on Tuesday (September 1) but is operating at 25 percent capacity, with sanitised rental gear and online-only ticket purchases.

Ghermezian recently opened up about the future of experiential retail amid COVID-19. He also spoke about safety via an app and compared the project to Disneyland.

Mark Ghermezian will be speaking at the blooloop V-Expo, running from October 13 to 15. Don’t miss out – register here today.
